The California Department of Transportation announced Monday that the 24-hour lane closures in the Loleta Median Barrier Project zone will be lifted by the end of January, weather permitting.
Temporary striping will be placed as soon as possible, and then the drums channeling traffic away from work areas will be removed, a Caltrans news release stated, allowing traffic use of all lanes except in active areas of work.
Work on the final details of the project will continue through the winter. The remaining work will be performed under intermittent, short lane closures.
This safety project will fill gaps and connect existing sections of median barrier, resulting in a continuous median barrier on U.S. Highway 101 from Drake Hill Road to Tompkins Hill Road. This project is designed save lives by eliminating cross-median collisions, the news release stated.
Caltrans asks the public to drive with caution and courtesy through all construction zones.
