THE HUMBOLDT COUNTY LIONS CLUBS are currently searching for high school students who are interested in participating in the California Lions 71st Annual Student Speaker Contest. This year’s topic is “Immigration — My Solution.” Speeches are to be as close to 10 minutes as possible without going over. Contestants have the chance of winning up to $250 in cash and more than $20,000 in scholarships. Club level contests will be held in February. THE HUMBOLDT COUNTY LEGAL PROFESSIONALS ASSOCIATION is offering scholarships to college students, high school seniors and re-entry students.

THE EULA MAE JETT SCHOLARSHIP: Applicants must be studying in an area that will lead to a career in the legal field, including jobs as receptionists at a law office, legal secretary, paralegal, court reporter, etc. Students who intend to go to law school are not eligible. This scholarship is open to graduating senior high school students, current college students and re-entry students.

THE DONNA MULLAN SCHOLARSHIP AND THE JUDGES’ SCHOLARSHIP: Applicants are not required to pursue a specific career, although preference will be given to students who are studying for a career in the legal field. These scholarships are also open to graduating senior high school students, current college students and re-entry students.
