Security National Servicing Corp. yesterday announced the layoffs of 21 employees in its Eureka headquarters and a total of 31 employees companywide, due to a slow down in the mortgage loan servicing business.

“We are saddened to let go some very talented staff,” said SNSC Senior Vice President Brian Morrissey. “This difficult decision was necessary due to economic conditions not in our control and are designed to help SN Servicing weather these turbulent economic times.

“When mortgage lending activities pick back up, we hope to be able to expand our staff.”

Interesting. I wonder if the "boss" still has his private jet?

Why does it matter if the 'boss' still has his private jet? I still have my private car, does that mean anything? NO. I'm sure letting these employees go was a very hard thing to do. My thoughts and prays are with them as they enter this difficult time.

Does having no job get you down?
Don't worry, I know what you can do...

Immediately move into a little bit more of a sketchy neighborhood, but so your kids can still go to the same school. (good luck with that)

Sell your SUV, you should be ashamed, you should not have bought that in the first place. While your at it, sell the Pickup Truck too, since you don't really have a need for it anyways.

Get one of those flintstones style bicycle car things like that guy who rides between Eureka and Arcata. Rain fly and all!

The food bank has really good canned food, for free! Give up red meat, unless you have a cow already. And I hear powdered milk isn't too bad. Soy milk is good, but that is only for the elite. Try milking other types of mammals, water+wheaties=bummer

Collect unemployement for a year or so. It will be really easy to play the system for awhile, tell them, "I look so hard for work but can't find any!"

You need to be a good US citizen and show compassion to the Native Americans whom YOU have ravaged their land. I recommend that you go directly to your local Indian casino as soon as you are eligible to get a payday loan on your welfware check. Don't go near the tables, stick to the penny slots! Pay those indians back for what YOU have done to them. drink the free sodas, you need your hourly dose of sugar water.

Since you don't have a job, and aren't really going to be looking for one until your off the unemployement, go ahead and start tokin' the smokins.

Don't worry about the job thing, isn't there going to be a big huge Home Depot and balloon track development thing with lots of fun things and resturants and department stores.

I am sure you can get a job at one of those places when it gets built. They are going to need lots of people who like to work hard for their money.

Maybe you could get a job at the new shipping port, whenever that gets built. Try the new HSU basketball gym/pool complex, you could mop floors there, nevermind HSU is broke too.

Keep on going to church, hint* if you pay the pastor enough money he can issue you special documents that reduce your tax liabilities. Wait, you don't make any money? You don't pay taxes?

If you are married, get ready for the divorce trend that has hit the north coast. All these hoes be looking for a man with mo' money. All these dudes be lookin for more wifeys.

A marriage is worthless unless you take advantage of the tax shelters anyways. Otherwise, just be divorced it makes it easier to cheat.

OK, so you relied on the white collar job for too long. Take your severance pay and go to the hydroponics store and buy yourself a setup n' blow some shit up! You still gotta eat, right?

When your unemployment is over, you can start going to CR or HSU, collect some student welfare checks mixed with a little 10% student loan.

If enough local people are laid off and then begin attending the local colleges, there won't be anyone to work and a ton of students. High wages and high revenue for the schools. Anyone complaining?

Just be sure not to cancel your cable TV service, they still need to control your mind.

Don't you wish you bought those darn solar panels instead of taking your autistic kids to disneyland?

Stop watching the TV people argue if it is a recession or not and go outside and plant some vegetables if you want your family to live.

Your right on target, I don't know about the autistic kids thing though. That is pushing it a little.

Thank you again George W. Bush. You are so great! I am so glad that the Arkleys paid so much money for your campaign. Keep up the good work! Hopefully no more employees get laid off when the Arkleys shell out hundreds of thousands of dollars to the next GOP candidate(greedy old person)!

Middle class America is gone!
Middle class Eureka is gone!
Upper class is in charge and will remain in charge. Large, and in charge.

Why don't you come down to the bank and we will give you a free checking account and a debit card with a visa logo on it. We will let you overdraft up to $1,000. Our overdraft fee is only $40 per transaction.

The only way out of your poverty hole is to work two jobs. Get busy slaves!

so... Arkleys gave Arnold some money. Arnold is a super hero! Don't be upset because the Arkley daughters gave Arnold the salary of 31 employees.
Arnold needs that money so he can save the world.
He probably just imported fine cigars from Cuba with the money. get over it. its not your money. you have not been saving your money, you have been buying gas with it.

I just hate when people out there start cutting up on people they do not even know. If you are as smart as you think you are than you would know how badly the mortgage business has plummeted in the last year. Most mortgage companies have made their layoffs long time ago, but, the Arkely's held off as long as they could, probably hoping that it would have to come to that. I am a former employee of SN Servicing and I have to say that the Arkely's are very good to their employees. They pay well, give respect and have great benefits. All I am saying is please don't point fingers when you don't know what your talking about. Everybody has feelings (rich or poor)!

My boyfriend was one of those laid off.
His entire department was removed, with the excpetion of two people, both with connections higher up in the administration. My boyfriend had seniority over these two, had more capabiliteis, more responisblity, and seniority.
This has happened before in this organization - politics and family supercede hard work and actual value.
This is not new - it is the culture of this organization and all of its outlets, which is tragic as it is otherwise a great business.

Arkley haters should be happy. Since you hate the man so much , aren't you happy when he has fewer employees? Wouldn't you Arkley haters love to see the zoo close? Wouldn't you Arkley haters love to see the performing arts center closed? Wouldn't you haters love to see the Eureka Co-op , the Vance Hotel and other Arkley projects to go under. The Arkley haters complained when there is more "Arkleyville" , and now they complain when there is less. Do you haters hate everything?

Arkley is just another real estate gambler who lost. Shows you those with money aren't always smart.

I thought these people bought up undervalued real estate? One would be of the belief they'd be picking off foreclosures left and right at this time.

The whole economy is in a world of trouble not just Security National. Sometimes jobs have to be cut in order to survive and keeps the doors open for business. There are still over a hundred employees working in the Eureka office. That's alot of people for our small, drug infested, crime ridden county. Why don't we focus our attention to cleaning up the people who don't contribute to society and quit bashing those who support, bring in income paying jobs? It seems very simple. Good luck to those of you who lost your jobs.

When times are good, people love our capitalistic system.
When times are lousy, people want The System to change, change, change.
Hey!
Markets go up and markets go down.
Always did, always will.
If you want job security, move to a socialist nation.
