On Thursday, 3:45 a.m., officers from the Arcata Police Department were dispatched to the Sunny Brae area on the report of a vehicle theft. Officers learned that the vehicle had been stolen from the 300 block of Shirley Blvd. within the last five minutes, a news release stated.
While checking the area, officers located the vehicle near Buttermilk Lane and attempted to conduct a traffic stop. The driver jumped out of the moving vehicle and fled on foot. APD officers chased the suspect, eventually apprehending him in the parking lot of a nearby apartment complex.
Officers arrested 26-year-old Chai Her of Eureka. During the investigation officers learned that Her is on probation for other theft related offenses.
Chai Her was booked into the Humboldt County Correctional Facility on the following charges: Auto theft, Probation violation, Possession of drug paraphernalia, Resisting arrest

Evidence at the scene led to Chai Her, 24, of Eureka, and the Eureka Police Department tracked him down around 4:30 a.m.
Her was booked into the Humboldt County Jail on suspicion of auto theft, conspiracy and being an accessory.

Fong Her, 19, of Eureka, continued to recover Tuesday from a single bullet wound to the chest.
