The Humboldt Transit Authority announced the launch of a new online store that allows passengers to purchase transit passes online using their credit card.

The passes can be purchased on the HTA’s Web site at www.hta.org and can be used for Redwood Transit System, Eureka Transit Service and Arcata & Mad River Transit System services.

The 31-day unlimited passes are available for the various mainline routes, as well as $10 and $20 value regional transit passes that passengers can use pay for rides on any route of the three major bus systems at a reduced rate.

The online store launched shortly after new electronic fareboxes were installed on transit buses in the Humboldt County region.

HTA Operations Manager Greg Pratt said purchasing the passes from the comfort of their homes and offices makes transit and its benefits more convenient for the community.

“There are many great reasons to ride local public transportation,” stated Neleen Fregoso, HTA general manager. “With increasing gas costs, it saves riders money and helps keep money in our local economy.”
