Ferndale tops Fortuna
Ferndale’s Ross Sutton pitched six innings, striking out three while allowing four runs and two walks, lifting his team over Fortuna, 8-4 on Wednesday.
Jake Morris led the Wildcats on offense, going 2-for-3 with a double, a triple, and two RBIs, while teammates Kyle Matyshock and Talin Mobley both went 2-for-3.
Fortuna’s Nate Hamilton pitched five innings in the loss, striking out eight batters and walking six.
The Huskies were led offensively by Ryan Robertson who hit a solo home run and went 2-for-3, while fellow Huskies Nate Hamilton, Bryce Head, Calen Curteman and Bruce Shiba all had base hits.
Ferndale improves to 6-2-1 with the win, while Fortuna falls to 2-8.
Softball
McKinleyville 10, St. Bernard’s 6
On Tuesday, McKinleyville’s Raesha Campbell threw four innings, allowing just two earned runs and two walks to help her team in a victory over St. Bernard’s.
The Lady Crusaders were led at the plate by Tawnya Reed who went 2-for-4.
McKinleyville spread its hit evenly throughout the roster, getting two hits each from Kelly Perkins, Mariah Lindgren, Martha Estrada, Ashley Davis and Angie Brundage.
