Malissa and Jamie
Jamie Michael Mintey, son of Reg and Myra Mintey, of Eureka, and Malissa Jo Mori, daughter of Joe and Gloria Mori, of Eureka, were married July 21, 2007, in Las Vegas. The couple resides in Eureka. Malissa is a nail technician at Berolina Salon, and Jamie is a personal trainer at Power-n-Fitness.
The couple had a short but sweet courtship of 10 months. The couple enjoys spending time together and with family and friends, cooking, gardening, traveling and especially taking care of their 2-year-old Jack Russell terrier Vanessa Rae.
The Wedding
The wedding took place in the beautiful garden gazebo outside the Flamingo Hotel at 7 p.m. The bride was walked down the aisle by her father, where she met her future husband waiting in the gazebo. The wedding was elegant but simple, in the colors of ivory, pistachio and mango. The bride’s attendants who traveled to be at the special occasion included Malissa’s sisters Michele Mori and Sherri Fosdick and longtime friend Kristi Landry. The groom’s attendants were Jamie’s brothers Darby Mintey and Tully Mintey and friends Ron Cooper and James Wright. A special touch was the bride wearing her Nana’s 50th wedding anniversary necklace. The groom wore the bride’s grandfather’s tie tack and cuff links.
The Reception
The reception was held inside the Flamingo Hotel, in the Mesquite Room. The couple sat alone at a sweetheart table. Many family and friends traveled to be a part of their celebration. They dined on a lavish sit-down dinner of steak and lobster prepared by the chefs of the Flamingo catering department. After dinner they danced to music played by DJ Marte Jones, a native of Eureka living in Vegas.
The Cake
The cake was a simple three-layer cake, with each layer a different flavor to satisfy everyone’s tastes. The decoration was mango calla lilies, the flower of the wedding. The cake was created by the pastry chefs of the Flamingo catering department.
The Flowers
The Flamingo Hotel took care of all aspects of the wedding. The bride’s bouquet was an ivory rose and mango calla lily wrapped in ivory ribbon. The attendants had simple ivory rose bouquets.
The Photography
The bride’s sister, Tina Mori of Tina’s Photography of Eureka, traveled to be a part of her sister’s wedding. She took many beautiful and memorable pictures. She worked so hard taking pictures, starting early in the day when the wedding party was getting ready, all the way to midnight when the couple was out on the Las Vegas Strip.
Something Else
This wedding was made very special for the bride and groom because of the many family members and friends who traveled from as far as Missouri, Utah and California to be a part of their wedding in Las Vegas.
On Nov. 3, 2007, the couple had a local reception for all who couldn’t make it to Las Vegas, including the bride’s 92-year-old nonna, Maria Mori. This celebration was at the Elks Club in Eureka. The night was a fun celebration that included many guests from both families and numerous friends. The guests dined and danced until midnight with Dr. Squid. The couple left the next morning for a stay at the Tu Tu Tun Lodge in Gold Beach, Ore.
