Tigers pick up two
The Arcata boys won both ends of a doubleheader against Brookings on Friday, winning 4-2 and 1-0 at the Arcata Ballpark.
In the first game, the Tigers were led on offense by Nick Nova, who went 1-for-3 with a triple, and Bret Winnacott, who went 1-for-3 with a double. Teammate Brandon Richards also contributed a base hit.
Arcata’s Andrew Nelson was the winning pitcher, going one inning with three strikeouts.
In the nightcap, Conner Byrne led the Tigers at the plate, going 2-for-3, while teammate Nova went 1-for-2.
D.J Hancock gave Arcata a strong performance on the mound, pitching all seven innings with eight strikeouts for the win.
The Tigers improve to 6-4 and will host Ferndale next Wednesday at 4:00 p.m.
Gee. Can one of the parents use a digital camera and e-mail a photo or two to the eurek reporter for a post? Apparently not.
