Maydine Julia Lane (Wilson) of McKinleyville died April 28, 2008 at the age of 68. She was born in Klamath Falls, Ore. on July 21, 1939. Her family moved a number of times during her childhood, eventually arriving in Humboldt County. She met the Lane Boys, Lee and Ed, in 1954, when she was fifteen.

Maydine and Eddie, or Ederd, as she called him, became inseparable and were married May 31, 1957. The couple lived on Liscom Hill in Blue Lake on the Double L Ranch owned by Ed’s parents, Robert Lee and Vecta Lane.

Maydine and Ed had five children between 1957 and 1965: Penny, now in Nebraska; Vickie Killebrew of Oregon; Corinne of Ferndale; Tina Lynne, who passed away as an infant and Dorsey Edward.

At 26, Maydine returned to school and studied nursing, specifically, physical therapy, which she enjoyed very much and was very good at. Her strong will was always evident through 50 years of marriage and the hard work of raising children and tending livestock on the ranch she with her husband Ed, she loved so much.

Maydine is survived by her children and their spouses; grandchildren, Tara McDougald Stansberry and husband Justus of Honeydew, Connor Lane, Logan Lane; great-grandchild William Morgan Stansberry of Honeydew; mother, Cora McCraken brother, Cornelius Uehling, Kansas City, Mo.; sister, Esta Hopper of Vancouver, Wash.; brother-in-law; Lee Lane and wife Janice of McKinleyville; nieces and nephews, Wes Lane and wife Gorgie, son Ross of Blue Lake and Rylynn Nani; Rita Michelle Lane of San Rafael, Rita Lane of Arcata; and Aunt Cleo Martin of Vancouver, Wash.

Maydine’s husband Edward and father Harry Wilson preceded her in death.

A graveside service will be held Monday, May 5, 2008, at Greenwood Cemetery in Arcata at 3 p.m. with Pastor David Groe officiating.
