An unknown number of suspects committed felony vandalism, affecting city property stored at the city of Arcata Corporation Yard on South G Street sometime Wednesday night.
Two city-owned electric vehicles were used to strike other objects in the yard resulting in several thousand dollars in damage, according to a news release from the Arcata Police Department.
Two other city-owned vehicles and a mobile home owned by Humboldt State University were also vandalized, said APD Chief Randy Mendosa.
Suspects also stole survey equipment.
The mobile home had windows broken and graffiti, which APD believes might constitute elements of a hate crime due to the racial epithets that were spray-painted.
That same night, an art studio in the same neighborhood was burglarized, Mendosa said.
Anyone with information about the identities of the person, or persons, involved is asked to contact APD at 707-822-2428.
