May 3

12:28 p.m. The Eureka Fire Department responded to Henderson and B streets for reports of a downed power line across the roadway. The proper company was notified to fix the problem, and fire crews ensured there was no threat of fire.

May 4

6:43 p.m. The Eureka Fire Department responded to the area of 13th Street and West Avenue to investigate reports of a possible vehicle fire. Fire crews investigated and determined the vehicle was not on fire.

6:56 p.m. The Eureka Fire Department responded to the 4900 block of Pound Road for reports of visible smoke and flames coming from a concrete structure. A small rubbish fire was discovered and extinguished quickly.

May 5

1:24 p.m. The Eureka Fire Department responded to the Humboldt County Courthouse for reports of an inmate at the jail who was not breathing. Medical aid was provided by fire crews.

May 7

6:37 p.m. The Eureka Fire Department responded to First and D streets for reports of a collision involving a single vehicle and a tree. The vehicle was on its side, and fire crews performed an extrication to remove the driver from the vehicle. Eureka Police Department officers arrested the woman for allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.

May 8

11:31 a.m. The Eureka Fire Department responded to the 3300 block of Broadway for reports of a vegetation fire. White smoke was visible in the area. Fire crews arrived on scene and discovered a 10’ by 10’ patch of brush and grass on fire, which they extinguished quickly.

5:10 p.m. The Eureka Fire Department responded to the 2100 block of S Street for reports of a vegetation fire on the sidewalk. Fire crews arrived on the scene and determined that the small fire had burned itself out prior to arrival.

6:26 p.m. The Eureka Fire Department responded to the 100 block of West Henderson Street for reports of a chimney fire. Fire crews investigated and determined there was no emergency.
