It is expected that 320 students will graduate from Eureka High School this year. Since 1989, the Safe and Sober Celebration has offered graduates a safe way to celebrate their achievement, a news release stated.

At a cost of $75 per student, the Safe and Sober committee needs to raise approximately $25,000. The event is supported by parents who volunteer and the donations from our community members.

The committee is currently conducting two fund-raisers: selling cookie dough and holding a raffle for a USC football jersey and football autographed by Rey Maualuga.

Maualuga is a former EHS student who currently plays football for USC. He won the 2007 Rose Bowl Defensive MVP and was recently projected to go first round in the 2009 NFL draft.

Raffle tickets for the autographed jersey can be purchased at Pierson’s Building Center on Saturday, May 17 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., or at Old Town Coffee and Chocolates during the June Arts! Alive event, or any time between now and the drawing on June 13.

For further information or to make a donation, phone 707-293-4186.
