Humboldt Coalition for Property Rights announced it will hold a public meeting on the recent activities of Humboldt County’s Building Code Enforcement Unit on Wednesday.
The meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. at the Willow Creek Community Services District Board Room in Willow Creek.
Humboldt County’s General Plan update process will also be discussed and how it will affect the ability for county’s residents to live a rural lifestyle in the future, according to a news release.
The meeting will include local speakers familiar with recent Code Enforcement Unit actions, alternative owner builder requirements and the proposed General Plan Update.
“The Humboldt County Planning Department and County Counsel have instigated some of the Code Enforcement raids that have occurred recently, which resulted in an outcry from rural residents who feel their civil rights have been violated,” stated Lee Ulansey, a Eureka artist and woodworker who is chairman of the more than 1,000 member HumCPR. “This is not the first time the Planning Department has instigated these raids, and it’s important for rural residents to understand the history of Code Enforcement activities and develop effective ways to permanently protect their right to live a rural lifestyle”
