Willow Creek to hold Fire Safe Day fair

Willow Creek Fire Safe Council is inviting residents to stay close to home this Memorial Day holiday and enjoy fun in the sun in Willow Creek for the Sixth Annual Willow Creek Fire Safe Day Fair to celebrate National Wildfire Awareness Month in May.

The event, sponsored by the Willow Creek Fire Safe Council, will be held on the Memorial Day on May 24 at the Veterans Park in Willow Creek from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The goal of Fire Safe Day Fair is to bring community members together to learn about community wildland fire/emergency preparedness and home ignition prevention. Fire agencies from Redding to Fortuna participate in informational booths that front-line fire preparedness measures and fire prevention techniques.

Scheduled events include the introduction of the Lower Trinity Children’s Natural Resource Council to enable children to monitor and assess conditions surrounding them by teaching them to become proficient “watchdogs” of their environment.

Also scheduled is a children’s EnviroCamp Day with five Project Learning Tree activities, Forest Service booths and the Klamath-Trinity Little League Minors Tournament from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and vendors will be selling cotton candy, Indian tacos, hot dogs, drinks, Chinese food, jewelry and army surplus.
