The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office has a brand-new animal control vehicle that is capable of hauling four large dogs and four cats or puppies simultaneously.

In comparison, the old animal control trucks were capable of carrying one large dog at any given time and since the HCSO transports an average of 2-3 animals a day per truck, it is expected to save time and money on fuel. The number of animals the new truck can carry is just one of several features designed to make the jobs of Animal Control easier.

Other features include a lower bed, allowing animals to be lifted with greater ease in to the vehicle, lighted and vented cages, and once it becomes time to retire the new truck, the cages can be fitted to a new vehicle.
