Bet you’re looking down and laughing.
Laughing when you see your daughter run,
Running that silly run you always did;
We all used to laugh at that.

Wow, twenty-three,
And your daughter now four.
Bet you’re looking down and laughing,
Laughing when you see her smiles and smirks,
And especially those attitude looks.

Wow, you would now be twenty-three.
You’ve been gone from us
For almost two years now,
And yes, we still sometimes frown,
Sometimes cry,
And still want to scream, “Why?!”
But still, I bet you look down and laugh,
Laugh about the way we all sit and reminisce
About our life with you,
Talking of all the silly things you used to do.

Wow, twenty-three, when I think
“What would an energetic girl like you do
On her twenty-third birthday?”
I just sit and laugh.
Your brother is like you when it comes to singing,
And your sister is like you with her dancing,
And what can I say about your daughter?
Well, Trinity is so like you in so many ways.
I don’t think we’ll ever lack for the excitement,
Entertainment, or amusement you brought us,
You will always shine on through them;
And their memories of you
Will always pull them through.

Even though you’re not here,
Trinity learns more about you every day.
She knows you are watching over her,
And that you love her with all your heart,
Looking down without a frown, only a smile,
Laughing as she does the silly things you used to do,
And she laughs from deep within her heart
And continues to play, knowing you are with her
And knowing she is so much like you —
She is so proud of that!
