Today is one year since our beloved Curt was taken from us. We still can’t believe he’s gone and that it has already been a whole year. He was no ordinary man in our eyes.
To this day, when many of us speak of him, we don’t talk of him being gone. We speak in present tense. We say “he is” or “he does” instead of he was. To us he is still alive in many ways.
He was such strong person, a man so full of life, it feels as if he is still here with us. He touched so many people in so many ways, he could never be forgotten. He was so young and had so many things left to do, it’s still unfathomable; why him?
When you see someone he knew, they speak very highly of him. When you see a man, with dirt on his clothes, hands callused from a hard days work, maybe a truck driver or a logger or a machine operator, and as he mentions Curt’s name, a tear comes to his eye, you know what a great man Curt was. To move the toughest of the tough to tears shows what kind of lasting affect he had on people. But he was more than a good friend of many.
He was a devoted husband, loving father and a beloved papa to his grand-daughter. His laughter and smile could brighten up anybody’s day. We can still hear his voice and feel his touch and even though he has been taken so far away, we know he still loves us just as much as we still love him and we miss him very much.
It gives us some comfort knowing he is somewhere better, without stress on his shoulders and where he is free from hurt and will not feel pain. He is with family and friends now and although we would rather have him here with us we know we will be with him again.
We miss you very much and you will always be in our hearts.
