Don’t forget to vote on June 3

A primary election is coming. Absentee ballots will arrive soon. Even without the presidential component, it is still important. There are contests in three supervisorial districts that could effect the county’s future. The Fourth District has no supervisor race, but a contest for seats on the county Democratic Central Committee should not be ignored.

Four Central Committee incumbents are seeking re-election, and it is no fluke that the Central Committee unanimously endorsed them. Richard Marks, Charlene Cutler-Ploss, Pam Service and Bob Service have all proved themselves to be hard workers not just talkers. They are committed Democrats who for years have done the nitty-gritty hard work of local party politics: operating the headquarters, registering voters, planning and working at party events, attending meetings. The Humboldt County party needs them there keeping up their good work.

They are also all involved in this community. Charlene Cutler-Ploss’s involvements have included the Eureka Heritage Society, Planned Parenthood, Keep Eureka Beautiful, Design Review and the CR Foundation. Richard Marks is president of Western Pulp and Paper Workers local 49, serves with the Arcata/Samoa Fire District, with Domestic Violence Services, and coaches youth soccer. The Services both are on North Coast Repertory Theater’s board. Bob is on the California Democratic Party’s Executive Board, and Pam works to preserve local history and serves on Eureka’s Plan Commission.

Democrats in the Fourth District will be fortunate to have these four hard workers re-elected to their Central Committee. Remember to vote June 3 or by mail.

Milt Boyd
Chairman,
Humboldt County Democratic Central Committee
Arcata
