Nancy Ellen Morse was born Nov. 26, 1947 and passed away peacefully in her sleep on May 11, 2008. She was born in Oak Park, Ill., the oldest of four to Charles and Sallie Morse.
Her formative years were spent in Garden Grove, Calif., visiting Disneyland, surfing, and raising tortoises. At age 17, Nancy and her family moved to Milburn, N.J., where she finished up her high school career. Nancy returned to California and traveled along the state, finally settling back in Orange County, where she married and had her first daughter, Sallie, in 1973. After a divorce, Nancy relocated to Humboldt in 1978. In 1928 she met and fell in love with Joe and had two daughters, Laurel and Molly, in 1987 and 1988.
Nancy was an avid music lover and never refused help to anyone, especially those less fortunate than her. She was always a kid at heart with a light spirit and an amazing sense of humor. She loved chocolate, Bailey’s, and coffee, even more if they were all together.
She was a knowledge seeker, a philosopher, a scientist, a giver, an artist, a mother, a grandmother, a great listener and always a friend. Nancy was pure love to all who knew her and she will be greatly missed by her three daughters, and two granddaughters and all who were lucky enough to have spent time with her.
A memorial potluck will be held for Nancy on Saturday, May 17, 2008 at the Manila Community Center. Please join us at 3 p.m. for a celebration of her life. We encourage anyone who knew her to share a memory, written or spoken.
