The Humboldt County Democratic Central Committee has announced its endorsement of candidates for the upcoming election, according to a news release.
HCDCC endorsements are as follows:
+ U.S. Rep. Mike Thompson for re-election in the 1st Congressional District.
“Congressman Thompson is a Vietnam veteran who worked in the wine industry and served in the state Senate before his election in 1998. He is known as a bipartisan problem solver and has been an early and consistent critic of the Iraq War,” the release stated.
+ Wes Chesbro for 1st District Assembly.
“Former state Sen.Chesbro served two terms in the Senate and currently serves on the state’s recycling board. He has been endorsed by Patty Berg, the incumbent, and like her, has long been active in social and environmental issues on the North Coast,” the release stated.
+ Estelle Fennell for 2nd District supervisor.
“Fennell has been a community broadcaster in Southern Humboldt for the past 20 years and is known as being knowledgeable and respected on community issues. Her campaign headquarters is now open in Fortuna at 1326 L St.,” the release stated.
+ Mark Lovelace for 3rd District supervisor.
“Lovelace is a longtime community activist well-known for his work in forest preservation, particularly the Sunny Brae forest. Since 2003, he has been president of the Humboldt Watershed Council. He has been endorsed by the incumbent, current Supervisor John Woolley,” the release stated.
