The ECS Board of Education is seeking community members to apply for appointment to the ECS Educational Foundation Board.
Due to recent budget cuts at the state and federal level, the Educational Foundation Board will operate independently of the ECS Board of Education, to work with the community to identify valued programs and projects.
The initial board will consist of seven members, including one teacher/retired teacher, one business owner, one parent/guardian or grandparent of a K-12 ECS student, and four at-large members, who will be responsible for building the Educational Foundation’s organizational structure, including fundraising and allocation strategies.
Funds raised will be deposited with the Humboldt Area Foundation.
“This is an opportunity for strong, dedicated and creative individuals to make a difference in the education of our community’s most important resource — our children,” an ECS Board of Education news release stated.
Applications are available at Eureka City Schools District Office, 3200 Walford Ave., Eureka.
The ECS Foundation Board is scheduled to be appointed by the ECS Board of Education at the June 18 board meeting.
