Redwood Tole Folk awarded its 2008 Art Scholarship to Danielle DeMartini from McKinleyville High School. It also awarded the Irene Manning Memorial Art Scholarship to Anastasia Andrews of Eureka High School.
Danielle DeMartini is the daughter of Michele DeMartini, of McKinleyville. DeMartini plans to use her $500 scholarship to attend Humboldt State University, where she will study studio art with an emphasis in graphic design. She has an interest in digital arts in the anime style.
She has received the Bank of America Fine Arts Plaque for McKinleyville High School. She is a member of CSF and has been on the honor roll, as well as participating in GATE activities. DeMartini has been active in school activities and community service.
Anastasia Andrews, daughter of William and Jean Andrews, of Eureka, will use the $500 Irene Manning Memorial Art Scholarship to attend Humboldt State University to major in art to prepare for a profession in interior design. She has taken AP and Honors courses throughout her high school years. She was named as the Bank of America certificate winner in the field of art for Eureka High School.
Her major community service activity has been with the American Cancer Society in The Discovery Shop.
Redwood Tole Folk is a local chapter of the Society of Decorative Painters. The organization promotes decorative painting as an art form and offers opportunities to learn techniques from visiting artists. Community service projects are conducted on a regular basis.
