Donna Louise (Cole) Martzall, Passed quietly July 5, 2008, at home after a long courageous battle with cancer. Born March 18, 1932, to Russell and Marguerite Cole in Arcata, Calif. She attended Arcata High School with her sisters Ann (Schmid) and Mary (Woodard) where she was a student body vice president. She majored in physical education at Humboldt State University, where she met Chuck, the love of her life.

After they married in June 1952, Chuck and Donna moved to San Diego, where Donna finished her education at San Diego State University while Chuck served in the Navy as an officer in the Pacific. After earning her degree and teaching credential in June 1956, Donna taught P.E. at George Washington High School in San Francisco while Chuck was attending dental school. Upon graduation they lived in Eureka for a time before finally settling in Santa Rosa. Donna is survived by her devoted husband of 56 years and three children; Chip, Wade and Nicole. She is also survived by her son-in-law Rob; two loving grandchildren, Jamie and Robert; niece Kari Harpin and family; sister Ann and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Donna was “Mom” to many and had plenty of love to give to so many. She was known for her quick warm smile, flashing eyes and her ability to light up any room she entered. Donna loved sports with a passionate enthusiasm and will always be remembered cheering on the Giants. She loved Bridge and all of her “Bridge Buddies.”

She had wonderful memories of her travels throughout this country and the world and especially loved the wonderful friends she traveled with. Donna would often say, “We have had such a charmed and fairytale life.” The amount of fun, love and happiness she gave to those she came in contact with made their lives just as charmed.

A celebration of her life will be held on Sunday, July 13, 2008, at 4:00 p.m. at Wild Oak Saddle Club, 550 White Oak Drive, Santa Rosa. Private entombment, Santa Rosa Memorial Park. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to Memorial Hospice, 821 Mendocino Ave., Santa Rosa, CA 95401.
