Barrett Engineering, an electronic engineering and design firm, are celebrating 10 years in business locally on Aug. 2. Prior to establishing the business in Fortuna, the engineering firm operated in the city of Orange beginning in 1979.

The company, owned by Barrett Cloud, provides a variety of custom electronic design, assembly, and machining services to many local customers, as well as nationally. Establishing the firm in Humboldt County has contributed to the economic development of the local community by the creation of six full-time positions. Earlier this year a marketing director was hired to handle the need for product literature development, Web site enhancements, and public relations.

Barrett Cloud holds a Bachelor of Science degree in electronic engineering, and is a Registered Professional Engineer in California. He has over 40 years of experience in project management, engineering, and production of industrial, scientific, medical, and recreational systems and products.

Custom design, fabrication, product-testing, and repairs are all services provided in their manufacturing facility and machine shop at 606 L Street.
