Construction of Old Arcata Road will begin July 14

Humboldt County was awarded a grant by the state of California to widen and realign Old Arcata Road/Myrtle Avenue from Three Corners to Stevens Lane, the Department of Public Works stated in a news release.

CR class allows Danco Homes to restore Samoa homes

Four Danco Homes employees recently completed a Historic Preservation Analysis course taught by local historic expert Bill Hole. The course was offered through College of the Redwoods and provided in-depth knowledge of how to renovate a historic building while preserving its historic integrity, according to a Danco news release.

The state Assembly voted 43-28 Monday to approve Senate Bill 1431, legislation by state Sen. Patricia Wiggins, D – Santa Rosa, to enable the state Department of Parks and Recreation to expand the use of conservation easements to protect state parklands.
