Eureka cops first to field new defibrillator equipment

Thanks to the help of an area doctor, Eureka Police Department has become the first law-enforcement agency in Humboldt County to carry new life-saving equipment.

Only a few weeks into a six-month agreement between California Highway Patrol and Eureka for beefed up traffic patrols within city limits, Eureka’s police chief said there is already a dramatic positive impact.

EPD aims to arm all patrol officers with taser electronic weapons this year

The Eureka Police Department is making a transition in its use of non-lethal weapons. Its goal is to have every officer on patrol, and in the field, armed with a new compact X26 Taser — an electroshock weapon — by the end of 2008.
