Trinity showing steelhead, light smoke

I floated the Trinity River this past weekend with some friends and my two boys. I did bring my fishing rod, but it was not really a fishing situation as I had to manage guiding a raft, watching the boys, as well as other rafting related details like jumping off rocks and swinging from ropes.

Slim picking on the Klamath River

The American Fishing Foundation will be holding a Klamath Fishing Derby on August 29 and 30. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Roy Rook Boat Dock Facility and the yearling Chinook salmon program at Iron Gate Hatchery. More information can be found at www.affinc.org.

Fishing isn’t always about fish

Last Sunday, I spent some time fishing with my friend John, who is moving out of the area. We have spent countless hours together fishing for salmon, steelhead, rockfish, crab, and anything else we could find gullible enough to fall for our shenanigans. Not to mention all the times we spent chasing deer in the California high country.
