Redwood Tole Folk awards art scholarships

Rebecca Rice of Fortuna High wins Dell Scholarship

The College of the Redwoods Scholarship Office hosted their annual reception and luncheon Thursday afternoon to honor recipients and scholarship contributors. Through a variety of programs and numerous donations, the Scholarship Office has contributed between $250,000 to $300,000 in scholarships to further educational opportunities, said CR Foundation member Ann Fielding.

Humboldt Harmonaires to award $1,000 music scholarship

New event benefits Soroptimist scholarships

Soroptimist International of Humboldt Bay will hold a new fundraising event, Take a Walk in Her Shoes, to benefit women and girls throughout the community. Those attending will watch 15 prominent men from the community walk in women’s shoes. Event activities begin at 5:30 p.m. on April 9 at the Wharfinger Building in Eureka.

Due in February Due Feb. 1: THE HUMBOLDT COUNTY LIONS CLUBS are currently searching for high school students who are interested in participating in the California Lions 71st Annual Student Speaker Contest. This year’s topic is “Immigration — My Solution.” Speeches are to be as close to 10 minutes as possible without going over. Contestants have the chance of winning up to $250 in cash and more than $20,000 in scholarships. Club level contests will be held in February.
